Oil and Gas Facilities
Land Use and Oil and Gas Facilities
The City of Edmonton has adopted an Oil and Gas Policy that establishes protocols and expectations for the orderly and safe co-existence between oil and gas facilities and urban development in and around the City of Edmonton.
The procedures contained within the policy direct a Liaison Officer and Advisory Committee, but also provide requirements for:
- development around existing oil and gas facilities;
- processes and expectations for new or expanding oil and gas facilities;
- setbacks for abandoned wells; and
- required information for Area and Neighbourhood Structure Plans.
Liaison Officer
The Liaison Officer is the main contact for any questions or inquiries with regards to development around oil and gas facilities and proposals for expanding or new oil and gas facilities in and around the City of Edmonton.
Oil and Gas Advisory Committee
This group's objective is to improve the City's policy, process and communication with regards to oil and gas activity in and around the City of Edmonton.
