Water Consumption

Water Conservation = Cost Conservation

Simple, low-cost water conserving fixtures can reduce your water consumption and water bills significantly. By switching to energy-efficient and water-wise low-flow fixtures and appliances, the average Edmonton homeowner could save over $300 per year.

Be Water Wise: What to look for in household products

Low-flush Toilets: 3-6 litres per flush

Low-flow Showerheads and Faucets: 6.6 litres per minute and aerated faucets.

Kitchen Fixtures & Appliances: low-flow faucets, ENERGY STAR dishwashers, avoid the heat-dry setting and avoid using the in-sink garburator.

Washing Machines: ENERGY STAR HE clothes washers, wash in cold water, conduct routine maintenance on machines and use clotheslines and drying racks instead of electrical dryers.

Did You Know?
You shouldn’t position your dishwasher next to the refrigerator. The heat produced by the dishwasher causes your refrigerator to work harder.
