William Hawrelak Park Water Play Feature

William Hawrelak Park (originally Mayfair Park) is a 68 hectare park in the river valley featuring a 5 hectare lake and open grassy areas. In 2013, funding and concept design were approved for the creation of a water play feature near the existing playground within the park.

City Council made a motion to cancel the William Hawrelak Park Water Play Feature project.
The project will be resubmitted in the 2019-2022 capital budget for consideration.
Project Overview
On June 11, 2013, Citizens Services Committee (formerly Community Services Committee) approved funding for the design and construction of a water play feature in William Hawrelak Park.
It will be located near the existing playground and will feature a spray deck and a shallow wading pool. Picnic tables, pathways, and washrooms are also included in the project.
Construction began in 2015 and open for public use in 2017 and will cost $2.9 million ($2.1 million for the water play feature / $800,000 for washrooms).
