Public Participation Questions

What happened to the input that was obtained from the public a few years ago relative to the Management Plan for the parks? Will the input received from the previous Management Plan consultation be considered in the development of the Master Plan?

Information gathered during the park management plan process is being considered as background information for the development of the master plan. The information will be considered in combination with information collected during the master planning public process.

Why is the Advisory Committee for the Parks Management Planning process that was in place in 2009 not being revived for the Master Plan process?

This is a new process, and we are working with a new project team to develop the plan. The process will build on the work that was done and input that was received previously.

How did you decide who would be on the Advisory Committee?

Buena Vista/Laurier Park is a destination park of interest to all Edmontonians, therefore it is important to make sure that both existing and potential users have an opportunity to provide input into developing the master plan for the parks.

We identified representatives from a mix of user groups and immediately adjacent Community Leagues (Parkview, Laurier Heights, and Windsor Park immediately accessible across the river).Opportunities to provide input are provided for those people not on the Advisory Committee at public sessions and / or through online surveys.

How can I provide my input?

The next public involvement sessions are planned for September or October to review the final draft of the master plan.
