Previous Events - Phase 1
Thank you for attending our Let’s Talk Parks event on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at City Hall.
This was part of an event in the City's Great Ideas. Great City. Speaker Series in collaboration with the City-Region Studies Centre with the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta.
Let's Talk Parks featured Nina-Marie Lister, a respected planner, academic and writer from Ryerson University, whose work explores the relationship between landscape ecology and urbanism.
Participants were welcome to attend one or both free events held at City Hall. The City Hall meeting room was almost full for both events, and there was lively conversation about urban ecologies and public green spaces from both a municipal and regional context.
Noon Event (June 16, noon-1pm, City Hall)
Condensed talk by Prof. Lister, with introductory remarks by Mayor Don Iveson, Chief Planner Peter Ohm, and Dr. Katy Campbell, Dean of the Faculty of Extension.
Evening Event (June 16, 5:30-8pm, City Hall)
Main event included the full talk by Prof. Lister. Following Prof. Lister's presentation was a Question and Answer session. Our host and moderator was Dr. Kevin Jones from the City-Region Studies Centre. Joining Prof. Lister were Peter Ohm, Chief Planner, and Dr. Candace Nykiforuk from the U of A School of Public Health and Place Research Lab.
Thanks for coming out and talking parks! Keep checking the Breathe website to learn about upcoming events.
