Project Overview

In 2005, a feasibility study was completed to explore the redevelopment of Jasper Place Fitness & Leisure Centre into a multi-purpose facility. The study was updated in 2011 and the project was split into two phases.

City Council approved funding for phase I in the 2015-2018 capital budget.  This phase addresses lifecycle deficiencies including the replacement of the pool deck drainage system, windows, ceiling in the natatorium, structural and waterproofing repairs, retrofit to the aquatic change rooms and exploration of the development of the family change rooms as identified in the feasibility study.

Phase I also includes the transition of the fitness centre to St. Francis Xavier Sports Centre.

In addition to phase I, the Jasper Place Grandstand will be replaced to include dressing rooms, officials rooms, concession and a spotter’s box.

Phase II, which is currently unfunded, includes the integration of Jasper Place Fitness & Leisure Centre, Bill Hunter Arena and Jasper Place Annex into a multi-purpose facility to include the addition of new fitness centre, studios and locker rooms, whirlpool, multi-purpose rooms, child play space, administration, lobby and required parking.
