Borden Park Revitalization
Borden Park has served Edmonton's families for 100 years. We are working on a revitalization plan that will see Borden Park's legacy continue for many years to come.
The revitalization plan began in 2010 and over the last four years, major upgrades to the park have been completed. The last remaining piece of the revitalization plan will see the redevelopment of the Borden Outdoor Pool into the Borden Natural Swimming Experience.

Project Overview
Through the Outdoor Aquatic Strategy 2008-2017, approved by City Council in 2007, Borden Outdoor Pool was designated for rehabilitation. During public consultation and the development of Borden Park master plan, it was determined that a natural swim experience was a great way to maintain the legacy of this historic park.
After getting public input on the facility design in 2013, the project was tendered for construction in June 2014. All bids came in significantly over budget and the City cancelled the tender. In order to stay within budget, the facility was redesigned to find savings and efficiencies. Key program elements including the natural filtration system were kept, while reductions included winter skating and late night swimming opportunities.
The Borden Natural Swim Experience will be the first public amenity of its kind in Canada and will provide a unique recreational opportunity to Edmontonians.
