Water’s Extreme Journey
April 28, 2011
This summer at the Edmonton Valley Zoo
Inside the new Water’s Extreme Journey maze exhibit at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, visitors have one great challenge: To stay clean. Sound easy? Think again…
For three months only, this adventure maze will transform zoo visitors into a raindrop and send them on a journey through mountains, streams and backyards towards a healthy ocean. Along the way, there will be learning stations, climb-throughs and even a zip-line to illustrate how every day decisions have an impact on clean water and the animals that rely on it.
“It’s an exciting combination of fun and education, which is what we strive for here at the Edmonton Valley Zoo,” says Tyler Pollock, Special Events Coordinator at the zoo. “It’s key that people understand how habitat preservation and animal conservation are connected.”
Located next to the Grevy’s Zebra habitat, the 1,000 sq ft interactive maze engages visitors through play, scientific inquiry, art and action, to educate about the importance of conservation.
Sponsored in part by TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Water’s Extreme Journey will be at the zoo from May 7th until August 7th and entry is free with all zoo admissions.
Please note that the zoo will be closed on May 4th as staff prepare for what promises to be an a-MAZE-ing summer at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
