Prominent Islamic Scholar Honoured

Citizens are invited to learn about the legacy of Dr. Ibrahim Abu-Rabi, an internationally recognized scholar and chair of Islamic studies at the University of Alberta.

Time:  noon – 1pm
Location:  City Room, City Hall

Dr. Abu-Rabi was respected as an expert on contemporary Islamic thought. He was the first holder of the Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities Chair in Islamic Studies at the University of Alberta, the first teaching and research chair of its kind in Canada.
Dr. Abu-Rabi died suddenly in July 2011.

This event is hosted by the City of Edmonton’s Celebrating Our Faiths program, Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action and the Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities (ECMC). The Celebrating Our Faiths program is an opportunity for the citizens of Edmonton to learn about various faith communities and their traditions enhancing the understanding and awareness of the rich diversity that exists in our city.
