One Week Left to File a Complaint on 2010 Property Assessments
February 26, 2010
The deadline for filing complaints on 2010 property assessments is Friday, March 5.
The City of Edmonton mailed property assessments to property owners in early January. Complaint forms were included and are also available on the City’s website at www.edmonton.ca/arb.
Property owners who disagree with the City’s valuation should talk to an assessor before filing a complaint. Assessors are able to make changes to assessments. Call 780-496-6388 or visit www.edmonton.ca/assessment.
The Assessment Review Board (ARB) cannot consider incomplete complaint forms. Property owners must ensure they complete the complaint forms in full and provide the correct filing fee. In particular, ARB staff have noted that several property owners have not provided their name and contact information (Section 3).
A new complaint form was introduced to all municipalities throughout the province this year. Detailed information is provided on the back of the form, and further details and a tutorial video are available at www.edmonton.ca/arb.
