Salute to Excellence Hall of Fame celebrates 60th anniversary in June
Sixty years ago, the City of Edmonton began the tradition of celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of Edmonton athletes. Today, the tradition continues with an expanded Hall of Fame that includes sports, arts and culture, and community service.
Nominations of outstanding citizens and local organizations who have improved Edmonton's livability through their exemplary achievements are now being accepted by the City of Edmonton Hall of Fame.
The City of Edmonton encourages all residents to recommend family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues, community leaders and organizations for this honor. Nominate someone you know whose significant or lifetime achievements have helped make our city a special place.
During a formal evening ceremony at the Francis Winspear Centre for Music on Tuesday, June 14, the City of Edmonton will induct outstanding citizens into the Arts and Culture, Community Service, and Sports Halls of Fame.
Videos and biographies of past Hall of Fame inductees are available on the City website. Photos of inductees for both sports and community services are displayed at City Hall while those from the arts and culture community can be found at the Citadel Theatre.
The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, February 22. Nomination criteria and forms can be found online at edmonton.ca/salute.
