New EEDC Board Appointment

Richard Brommeland, Business Development and External Relations Director at the National Institute for Nanotechnology, joins the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation’s board of directors effective April 15. His appointment by City Council will be made official at the EEDC’s upcoming annual general meeting.

“On behalf of EEDC, I welcome Richard to the board of directors,” said Randy Ferguson, EEDC Chair. “EEDC is seeking a leadership position in technology commercialization by working with the Alberta government’s realigned innovation structure. Our goal is to make Edmonton a conduit for high-tech spinoff companies. Richard will help move the city towards that goal.”

Brommeland’s role at the National Institute for Nanotechnology includes developing and sustaining business, and research and collaborative relationships with its clients. In addition, he oversees the institute’s many visitors, and develops client contracts and agreements. The institute is a joint initiative of the National Research Council of Canada, University of Alberta and Government of Alberta.

Before his current position, Brommeland was a principal at Technology Brokers, a management consulting firm, and worked in Canada’s space and petroleum industries. Brommeland replaces Glori Meldrum, CEO of g [squared].
