Keep it Clean, Keep the Ribbon Green

River Valley Clean Up still accepting registrations
Residents can still register for the 24th annual River Valley Clean Up, an event that sees thousands of people scour the river valley for litter each spring. While registration for the May 1 kick-off is at capacity, individuals or groups can still register and receive a site assignment for a date of their choosing.
Organizers will provide volunteers with gloves and garbage bags. Once full, volunteers drop off their garbage bags at a designated location where crews can collect them for disposal. Volunteers are reminded to wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear.
In 2010, more than 3,000 volunteers descended on the river valley and removed more than 5,000 bags of garbage. The River Valley Clean Up is one of many ways residents ensure our green spaces remain healthy and clean. Led by the Parks Branch, this event is part of the Capital City Clean Up Program. Capital City Clean Up is the City’s litter and graffiti prevention and reduction program aimed at reinforcing the message that a clean and safe Edmonton is a shared responsibility among City, businesses and citizens.
Volunteers can register by phone at 780-496-4948 or via e-mail at rivervalleyclean-up@edmonton.ca.
