Halloween 2011: Frightful Fun for All

October 12, 2011

Halloween is creeping up and City of Edmonton has spooky events planned throughout the month of October.

Howl-O-Ween at the Edmonton Valley Zoo

Saturday, October 15
11am – 4pm
Regular winter rates apply.

Come see the spooky side of the zoo. Will the wolves howl at the moon? Can you handle getting up close to a snake or rat? Are you daring enough to handle the creepy crawlies from the Royal Alberta Museum?

Spend the afternoon getting closer with some of the most spine-tingling animals at the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Enjoy a hot dog and a hot chocolate while you watch fire dancers and jugglers or visit the Super Scary Touch Table where you’ll have a chance to reach inside the mystery bag to guess what's inside. It could be live insects, wolf teeth, or another frighteningly fascinating surprise!

Boo at the Zoo!

Sunday, October 16
11am – 4pm
Regular winter rates apply.

Boo at the Zoo is back and better than ever! Show up in your coolest costume and spend the afternoon at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.

The Spooky Scavenger Hunt will take you on a tour of the zoo’s Halloween animals including snakes, wolves, owls, bats and more. Try the Pumpkin Patch Prize Hunt or see what comes to life in the Haunted Hands-on Science Experiments. Do you dare enter the Witch’s Den? Don’t miss the Jack-O-Lantern stomp in the Elephant Yard, Halloween animal encounters and creepy demonstrations with reptiles, amphibians and insects. Make Boo at the Zoo a family Halloween tradition.

Halloween at the Muttart Conservatory

Sunday, October 23
noon – 4pm
Regular admission applies.

Celebrate Halloween by learning about creepy crawlers and bugs galore. Come in costume and play bugs games, check out bug displays and set out on a bug quest in the pyramids. Don’t forget to cast your vote for your favourite jack-o-lantern!

There will be live music to entertain while you get your face painted, try buggy crafts or plant your own spider plant. Join us for a mildly scary but superbly entertaining afternoon of fun.

Fort Edmonton Park’s Spooktacular

Friday, October 28 & Sunday, October 29
6 – 10pm

Don your costume and venture down to Fort Edmonton Park for a night of fun and fright for all ages. Make your way through the Park to encounter all kinds of sights, mystery, frights and allure lurking around every corner.

Spooktacular is a safe place for families to celebrate Halloween festivities with both indoor and outdoor activities for various age groups. Don't forget to bring a bag to collect your treats. The whole family will enjoy this evening extravaganza of Halloween fun!
