City, DATS Reach Contract Agreement
August 25, 2010
The City of Edmonton has reached an agreement with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 569 DATS (ATU 569 DATS), representing approximately 130 DATS operators.
The settlement provides a 4.5 percent general wage increase for 2010, which is consistent with other civic union settlements. DATS operators voted on and ratified the deal on August 18th.
“We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with the union. We value the service DATS provides to all those in our community who are disabled and rely on DATS for a better quality of life,” says David Edey, General Manager of Corporate Services.
In 2009 DATS provided over 900,000 trips to approximately 10,000 registrants.
The City’s previous collective agreement with ATU 569 DATS expired at the end of 2009.
