Appointment to Regional Airports Authority Board

Edmonton City Council has appointed Mr. Ralph Young to the Edmonton Regional Airports Authority Board of Directors. His term commences January 1, 2012.
Mr. Young has been President of Melcor Developments Ltd. since 1997 and CEO since 2000. Melcor is a public real-estate development company headquartered in Edmonton since its inception in 1923, and has consistently been one of Edmonton and Alberta’s most respected and best-performing organizations. Melcor is active in master-planned community development, property ownership and management, and new commercial development in western Canada, with offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Kelowna, B.C. and assets in Saskatchewan and Arizona.
Ralph has been involved in the urban-development industry for over 40 years with Melcor and has served as President and a Director of the Urban Development Institute of Edmonton, Alberta and Canada. Ralph has extensive experience serving on a number of corporate, not-for-profit and institutional boards, and currently sits on several boards of arts, educational and charitable organizations.
Ralph holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and an MBA from the University of Alberta. He and his wife Gay have lived in Edmonton for 42 years, where they raised their children, and continue to be very active in the community.
