Edmonton Elections Goes Mobile
September 10, 2013
Edmonton Elections has gone mobile with the launch of the new 2013 Edmonton Election mobile app. The mobile app is available for download via the iPhone and Android app stores, and will be available for BlackBerry soon. A fourth version of the app, which can be read by any mobile device platform is also available at edmonton.ca/election.
“Edmonton Elections is always actively pursuing new, innovative ways to get information out to voters in order to reduce barriers to voting,” says Alayne Sinclair, Returning Officer. “There is a demand from residents to receive information using new tools and mobile technology is a great way to reach busy Edmontonians on the go.”
The app mirrors the election information offered on edmonton.ca/election in a mobile friendly format. It contains everything voters will need to know to successfully cast their ballot in the 2013 Edmonton Election, including: where to vote, who is eligible to vote, voter identification requirements, advance voting, the official candidate list, candidate forums and election results.
The mobile app also offers integration with google maps and social media. Using these features, mobile app users can obtain detailed directions to their designated voting station location and easily share important election information with their social networks.
