Muttart Conservatory Upgrades Ensure Best Growing Conditions
October 29, 2012
The City of Edmonton is performing a rotating shutdown of the four pyramids of the Muttart Conservatory to accommodate upgrades in the apex of each pyramid. The shutdown will be in effect on weekdays only.
In order to keep visitors safe, the pyramids will close one at a time. The work will begin on October 29, 2012, and is expected to finish November 23, 2012.
Pyramid Closure Schedule (weekdays only)
- Arid Pyramid – October 29 - November 2
- Tropical Pyramid – November 5 – 9
- Temperate Pyramid – November 13 – 16
- Feature Pyramid – November 19 – 23
During the rotating shutdown, admission at the Muttart will be discounted by 25% as fans, motors and shrouds in all 4 apexes are replaced. The work will help to ensure long-term viability of the Muttart Conservatory to protect, enhance and nurture the plant collection for visitors to fully enjoy.
The shutdown schedule will ensure the Arid Pyramid is open for visitors to see Belia, the Agave Americana, which is expected to bloom in mid November.
The City of Edmonton is committed to providing guests at the Muttart Conservatory a safe and inviting experience.
