Muslim Faith Celebrated at City Hall

Celebrating our Faiths

October 30, 2012

Join Councillor Amarjeet Sohi and representatives from the Muslim community at an interfaith event that launches their display at City Hall.

Date:  Wednesday October 31, 2012
Time:  Noon
Location:  City Room, City Hall

The theme of the display is Muslim Houses of Worship Around the World. The rich diversity of the Muslim faith is reflected in more than 20 Muslim Houses of Worship in Edmonton. The first mosque in Canada was built in Fort Edmonton Park in 1938.

Approximately 45,000 Muslims live in Edmonton.

This event is part of the City of Edmonton’s Celebrating our Faiths program, a joint initiative with the Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action. The program is designed to promote greater awareness of the city’s diverse faith groups and enhance appreciation of Edmonton’s cultural diversity.

The Muslim display will be at City Hall through November 2012.
