It’s Not Too Late to Sign Up for Summer Fun
July 03, 2012
Scrambling for last-minute ways to keep your kids busy this summer? Hundreds of daycamps at convenient locations all across the city are still available with openings at popular attractions, recreation facilities, parks and playgrounds for kids and teens alike.
A preview of some of the exciting daycamps offered:
Voyageur Adventure
Experience the life of a voyageur as you spend a morning learning how to paddle a voyageur canoe at Fort Edmonton Park. Also bale some fur, build a model tipi, cook bread over the fire and make a hearty fur trader stew for lunch. Try your hand at native beading by making a beaded leather bracelet.
Nature Buddies Camp
Adventures await you in the wilds of the John Janzen Nature Centre's forest. A unique theme everyday: forest animals, wetland creatures, bugs, birds, and hidden forest treasures. Capture pond insects in your dip net. Nifty nature games, creepy-crawly crafts, and campfire songs will make this an unforgettable week of camp activities.
Camp Olympics
Kids can unleash their inner athlete where they can run, kick, dash and swim their way through this exciting, planned sporting event. Participants will learn the importance of teamwork and maximize their potential and involvement in sports and physical activity.
Also available are registered camps at your local community league hall. From wacky science experiments to cooking classes, hip hop dance classes to nature adventures, the perfect summer camp is waiting.
Kids will make new friends, develop new skills, keep active and most importantly have fun. City of Edmonton daycamps are convenient for parents, with early drop-off and late pick-up options. Lunch programs are available at select camps.
Spots are limited, so register now!
