Independent Council Compensation Committee Seeks Public Input
July 24, 2012
The Independent Council Compensation Committee is asking Edmontonians to participate in a questionnaire on how Members of Council are compensated. Public input obtained from this questionnaire will be one of many factors used in determining the committee's recommendations.
Edmontonians can provide their input on Council compensation by completing an online questionnaire at www.edmonton.ca/CouncilCompensationQuestionnaire.
The committee reviews the remuneration provided to the Mayor and Councillors, including base salary, benefits, pensions, other allowances and annual-adjustment policies. The goal is to ensure that people from all walks of life look at serving on Council as a viable option and to adequately compensate Council members for their time and level of responsibility.
The Independent Council Compensation Committee is created every six years.
The Committee will make recommendations to Council by January 31, 2013.
