High Water Warning for Edmonton’s River Valley
June 08, 2012
The North Saskatchewan River is running high and with more rain in the forecast, water levels are expected to continue to rise over the weekend. City of Edmonton Park Rangers urge Edmontonians to use caution around the North Saskatchewan River until water levels subside.
If water levels continue to rise, some river valley park trails or boat launches may be closed due to flooding and accumulation of debris. Some of the areas that may be closed due to high water are:
- Lower Fort Edmonton Trail (CLOSED)
- Lower Highlands Trail
- McKenzie to MacKinnon Ravine Trail
- Kinsmen to Emily Murphy Park Trail
- Lower Capilano Trail
All closed trails will be barricaded and closure signs will be posted. For their own safety, Edmontonians are asked to obey signs and stay off closed trails.
