Edmonton Honours Excellence in Combative Sports

The Edmonton Combative Sports Commission has handed out its 35th annual awards for excellence in combative sports and outstanding achievements and commitment to those sports.

2011 Lifetime Achievement Award Winners
John Mendonca: Recognized for his 25-year commitment to amateur and professional boxing in Edmonton as a trainer, coach and boxing promoter.
Murray Greig: Edmonton Sun columnist who has specialized in writing about amateur and professional boxing for more than 30 years.
K. David Campbell: A competitor, official, executive and organizer for amateur wrestling in Edmonton and Alberta since 1967.
Jack Krys: The first combative sports individual to be nominated to the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission’s Honour Roll twice. In 2000, Jack was recognized for his achievements as an amateur and then professional wrestler. He is being recognized a second time for his contributions to wrestling, boxing and mixed martial arts.
