Eastglen Leisure Centre reopens
September 17, 2012
Eastglen Leisure Centre is reopening after a three month maintenance shutdown, but it will take a few more months before the work is fully completed.
During renovation work at Eastglen, which closed in June, significant structural issues were discovered in the steam room and further structural issues were found in the concrete surrounding the hot tub. The problems were not revealed until some demolition work took place in the facility.
Although Eastglen is opening on time on September 18, 2012, the steam room and hot tub will remain closed until further notice. Both the hot tub and steam room will be redesigned and reconstructed over the next six months.
We thank the community for its patience during our closure.
The upgrades and maintenance work at Eastglen are part of the City’s continued commitment to providing Edmontonians with high quality recreation facilities that help us all lead healthy and active lifestyles.
