Global Cities Covenant on Climate
Council voted to join 208 other cities around the world in a global commitment to take action on climate change. The commitment is aligned with Edmonton’s environmental plan The Way We Green.
Performing Arts Centre
Council approved $100,000 for the City and Arts Visioning Committee to develop a business case for a proposed downtown performing arts centre. A performing arts centre downtown would enhance the vibrancy and livability of Edmonton’s downtown and provide much-needed space for performing arts activities.
Festival Grants
Council approved providing $1.55 million in grants to the Edmonton Arts Council to support festivals in Edmonton, such as the Dragon Boat Festival, Ice on Whyte and the Edmonton International Jazz Festival. These festivals add to Edmonton’s quality of life and our reputation as Canada’s Festival City.
