City Surveys Truck Route Traffic
September 24, 2012
During fall 2012, the City of Edmonton will be conducting a survey on truck routes in cooperation with the Government of Alberta. Through The Way We Move, the City of Edmonton is committed to supporting the efficient movement of goods, which is essential to a healthy, productive economy.
The survey is designed to help the City and the province:
- Better understand the transportation needs for trucks and dangerous goods
- Focus infrastructure investments to support economic development
- Understand the impacts of major transportation infrastructure changes in Edmonton, such as LRT expansion and completion of Anthony Henday Drive
City officials, with the help of Edmonton Police Service, will be stopping trucks over 4,500 kg on truck routes across Edmonton, outside of peak hours (between 9am and 3pm). Participation in the survey is voluntary. All efforts will be made to minimize delays for truck drivers and other motorists.
Safety is a top priority while conducting this survey. The City encourages all road users to slow down and follow directions on the road.
