City Market Downtown Returns to its Winter Home in City Hall
October 18, 2012
Vendors from the popular City Market Downtown are moving back inside City Hall for the winter season, beginning Saturday, October 20, 2012.
Open from 10am to 3pm every Saturday, the City Market Downtown at City Hall will feature farm-fresh meats, produce, bread, sweets, handcrafted jewellery, local art, fresh flowers and much more. Many of the buskers and entertainers that keep things lively on 104 Street will also be on hand. The market will return to its outdoor location on 104 Street in May 2013.
The idea to bring the market to City Hall was piloted in 2010 and was a big hit with both the vendors and the patrons, who enjoyed the warmth, convenience and accessibility of the City Room. Hosting the market at City Hall over the winter months supports local food producers and artists, and is in line with the Edmonton’s Urban Agriculture Strategy as set out in Municipal Development Plan – The Way We Grow.
Getting there
City Hall is easily accessible by bus and LRT. Check the ETS website for route and schedule information.
