What do you do with the census data and who will have access to the results?
All census information provided online is encrypted during transmission and is stored in a secure database located in Canada. The census forms used in the door-to-door collection of census data are returned to the Elections and Census Office are electronically scanned.
The amalgamated information provided from all households is transferred to the City's Census Reporting System for long term management and data report generation purposes. The retention of the information is in compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Comprehensive reports are produced at the neighbourhood, ward and city levels. The reports are available to all interested parties and can be viewed at www.edmonton.ca/census or on the City of Edmonton Open Data Catalog at https://data.edmonton.ca.
