2012 Municipal Census

Edmonton's official population on April 1, 2012, was 817,498.

Annual growth has averaged 12,000 since the last Municipal Census in 2009.

City-wide, Ward and Neighbourhood Census Results are now available.

Census information has been compiled on every neighbourhood in the City. Neighbourhood results with a population under 49 are not posted to protect the information collected.  Household data is confidential and never released at an individual residence level.

Please Note: The Structure Type field in the Summary of All Questions reporting is a listing of all units associated with a particular type of structure. For example: in the neighbourhood Kernohan, the Structure Type field in the Summary of All Questions report recorded 62 responses for "Apartment (1-4 stories)" which indicates there are 62 units associated with the structure type "Apartment (1-4 stories)."
