Who Can Apply?
Only full time Emergency personnel qualify for this program. This includes Firefighters, however Communication personnel, Fire Prevention personnel, Fire Investigators and Training Officer applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Applicants must be a minimum "first class", four years or more and must be physically fit.
Fire Captains or Station Officers may also apply. Most Departments request that Captains accept a salary reduction and perform duties of a First Class Fire Fighter during the term of the exchange. Their seniority and rank is restored upon the completion of the exchange. The terms of this arrangement are between the applicant and the permanent employer.
Note: Applicants requesting an exchange to Australia must have a minimum of four years experience.
