Aboriginal Workforce Participation Initiative (AWPI)
The AWPI is a federal-provincial-municipal government partnership committed to increasing participation of Aboriginal peoples in the labour market. The City of Edmonton's goal is to develop programs and partnerships that attract and engage Aboriginal people in the City's workforce.
"The Aboriginal Workforce Participation Initiative sets the stage for the City of Edmonton to develop plans, programs and partnerships to attract and retain Aboriginal people to the City of Edmonton's workforce. This is a public declaration of the City of Edmonton's desire to pursue Aboriginal employees."
The City of Edmonton strives to:
- Attract and retain employees that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve
- Source qualified candidates that demonstrate on-the-job success
- Explore partnership opportunities that align with the City of Edmonton business needs
Thank you to both our current and previous partners for their work in helping the City of Edmonton attract and engage Aboriginal people in the workforce.
