Infrastructure Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC)

In 2000, the Office of Infrastructure invited a broad cross-section of technical stakeholders in the Edmonton community to form the Infrastructure Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC) to provide key technical input into the City’s infrastructure management processes.
Key stakeholder organizations appoint representatives to ITAC. Its members serve in an advisory capacity to the Office of Infrastructure as it continues to refine and implement the City's Infrastructure Strategy.

ITAC Mandate

  • Provide advice to the City as it refines and validates strategies, processes and planning tools.
  • Provide a broad scope review of infrastructure issues.
  • Foster two-way communications between the City and stakeholders.
ITAC's input helps the City anticipate stakeholders' requirements and concerns about infrastructure issues. In addition to working with the Office of Infrastructure, other civic departments have consulted ITAC on diverse issues including the City's Drainage Master Plan, the conversion of land drainage to a utility, Smart Choices (Edmonton's urban intensification strategy), the Four Pillars of Sustainability and the Debt Management Fiscal Policy.

ITAC was a key contributor to the development of Edmonton City Council's Infrastructure Strategy, which was approved by City Council in January 2006.
