Our Impact
To achieve our vision that “Edmonton is a community that values, respects and actively supports the safety, diversity and wellbeing of seniors”, we strive for impact in the following areas:
- Seniors are engaged, participating, and contributing to their communities.
- Seniors are safe and well in their home and communities.
- Seniors are respected and included.
- Seniors have access to the programs, services, and resources they need.
Practically speaking, examples of this would include:
- Improved public consultation procedures so seniors can be involved in civic life
- Accessible and affordable aging-in-place services available across Edmonton
- Outreach services for isolated or at-risk senior
- Design guidelines for the construction of age-friendly buildings and outdoor spaces
In order to do the work, Age Friendly Edmonton works in partnership with organizations and individuals who have formed working groups focused on the key areas identified in the Vision for an Age Friendly Edmonton Action Plan.
