The Charles Labatiuk Award for Environmental Excellence

In order to recognize the many environmental champions of our corporation, the City of Edmonton has created the Charles Labatiuk Award for Environmental Excellence.

This year's ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at City Hall, where finalists and the award winner will be announced.

As part of being selected as a finalist, $300 is donated to Root For Trees in each project team's name in recognition of their dedication to the environment and to increase the tree canopy in our city. This is in support of The Way We Green objective 3.6.1:

"The City of Edmonton establishes, implements and maintains the Urban Forest Management Plan with the aim to achieve a 20 per cent urban canopy."

As part of being selected as the winner, a commemorative tree will be planted in a City of Edmonton park in the project team's name, and the team member(s) will receive a framed award certificate and a gift card.
