Proposed Alberta Avenue Heritage Area
The potential Alberta Avenue Residential Heritage Area was identified in the recent Alberta Avenue/McCauley/Parkdale Heritage Inventory Study as an area of interest.
Its distinct residential character is comprised mainly of homes with noticeable architectural and design detail from the turn of the 20th century.
The neighbourhood also provides a tangible history of early residential development north of 111 Avenue, in one of the older neighbourhoods in Edmonton.
The study felt that this area was worthy of some official recognition and possible development guidelines in the future to protect and enhance its character.
As a result, the City is exploring options, which may cover a variety of initiatives or incentives, that may help enhance and protect this area.
As part of this process, the City is looking for feedback on what the community and stakeholders would want or envision the area to be in the future, and how it may be enhanced and protected.
Survey ended
The Alberta Avenue online survey is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their feedback.
We are now analyzing the survey results, along with the feedback from the community meeting, and will post an updated report when it has been finalized.
