Historic Resource Review Panel
The Historic Resource Review Panel reviews applications to amend the Register of Historic Resources in Edmonton. It is composed of volunteers from the Edmonton community who have been selected for their knowledge of or interest in local history and architecture.
Amending the Register
Any person or organization that would like the panel to consider the addition or deletion of a resource to the Register is requested to complete an application form available from the heritage planner.
The heritage planner will then forward the application to all members of the panel for review. The owner will also be contacted (if different from the applicant). Panel members may choose to visit the site personally but will only view the resource from the public street.
The panel will meet to determine if the resource qualifies for inclusion on the Register based on established evaluation criteria. Based on a simple majority, the panel will vote on the proposed amendment.
The applicant and owner will be notified of the panel's recommendation and will be offered the opportunity to comment or meet with the heritage planner. The recommendation will then be forwarded to the Branch Manager of the Land Use Policy Branch through the Edmonton Historical Board.
The recommendation of the panel is not binding and the final decision rests with the Branch Manager of the Land Use Policy Branch. The owner/applicant will be notified in writing of the Branch Manager's decision.
