The Edmonton Historical Board is now accepting nominations for the 38th Annual Recognition and Plaque Awards.

Please submit completed forms to the Edmonton Historical Board by Thursday April 5th, 2012 for your nomination to be considered fo this year.

Recognition Awards

Since 1975, the City of Edmonton has given awards to individuals and groups that have played a major role in Edmonton's development, or who have played an important role in preserving or promoting some aspect of Edmonton's heritage.

Recognition Award recipients will be remembered in the Historical Hall of Fame at the City Archives.

Previous award recipients include Linda Goyette, Paula Simons, Tommy Banks, Legacy Magazine, the Muslim Pioneers of Edmonton, and the Fort Edmonton Foundation.

Plaque AwardsJohn Walter's 1884 House

Since 1974, the Edmonton Historical Board has placed interpretive plaques on buildings, building fragments, and sites of historical significance in the Edmonton area.

Previous buildings and sites recognized with plaques include: McCauley School, Strathcona Library, Garneau Theatre and the John Walter House.
