Citizen Satisfaction Survey

The City of Edmonton frequently surveys residents on specific issues and city-wide topics to determine satisfaction with civic services, identify spending priorities, and gather input on City activities.

The Citizen Satisfaction Survey provides indicators for public perception about the services provided by the City. The results of the survey are used to guide budget deliberations along with other public input, such as Citizen Panel recommendations, Budget public hearings, direct correspondence with Councillors and the Mayor, public involvement in specific projects and major plans like the Municipal Development Plan and Transportation Master Plan.

2009 Survey results highlights:

  • The majority of respondents assessed the quality of life in the City of Edmonton positively (91%)
  • Overall satisfaction with the services provided by the City of Edmonton continues to be high (72%), and satisfaction with specific City services generally remained the same.
  • Almost two-thirds (63%) of respondents said that they received excellent, very good or good value for their tax dollar.
  • In terms of service priorities and improvements, winter and summer road maintenance and public transit continue to be areas of strong focus among residents and were clearly identified as priority areas for the future action.
  • Most residents maintain a positive opinion about the City of Edmonton and the services provided.
