Transporation
Residents highlight the important role that transportation plays in determining the future of Edmonton both from a servicing and an environmental sustainability perspective.
- Residents want to see a more efficient and effective transportation system that provides access to all areas of the City in a timely manner. This includes improving roadways, public transit, and increasing the accessibility of active transportation methods, including bike lanes, walking paths, etc.
- A regional approach would ensure easy links between Edmonton and the outlying communities, as well as the international airport. Edmonton's climate affects the safety of the roadways and Edmontonians feel that this aspect of transportation could be improved (road maintenance, snow removal, etc.).
- LRT expansion is one of their top priorities. Additionally, transit oriented development is seen as being an important approach to building compact and complete communities.
