What You Said
Working together for safe communities.
You said feeling safe and secure in public spaces, on transit and in our homes is highly important. You called upon Edmontonians to care for each other and to work in their community to prevent crime.
Including and engaging all members of a community will build bridges amongst Edmontonians and add to a shared responsibility for the safety of individuals and communities.
You said:
- Clean, connected communities where people know each other, support each other and participate in community events can play a significant role in crime prevention and add to the overall safety of our city.
- Having animated public spaces where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds gather will increase our connections with each other and add to our sense of safety.
- Build safe communities and have the City advocate other orders of government for building standards that reflect the latest developments in the industry.
Prevention and Enforcement
Lit streets, clean neighbourhoods and providing services to youth to prevent crime will help make our feeling of safety.
Emergency services such as police and fire services provide assurance and backup and enhance our sense of safety and security.
Our bylaw enforcement, animal control services and year-round maintenance of our streets, sidewalks and parks and public places also add to our safety as do our water, sewage and waste removal services.
You called for police presence on the street and on public transit.
