The Way We Green Public Forum

Purpose

The purpose of The Way We Green Public Forum is to give Edmontonians an opportunity to help shape the City of Edmonton’s environmental strategic plan, The Way We Green

Time

The Public Forum will be held at the following times and location.

  • Wednesday, November 3, 2010, 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Edmonton City Hall (City Room)
  • Thursday, November 4, 2010, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Edmonton City Hall (City Room)

Format

You can participate in the Public Forum by simply dropping into City Hall within the specified hours. Please allow 30-60 minutes to visit the six subject matter stations:

  • Station 1:  Energy & Climate Change
  • Station 2:  River Water Quality & Supply
  • Station 3:  Air Quality
  • Station 4:  Food Security
  • Station 5:  Biodiversity
  • Station 6:  Waste Management & Ecological Footprint

At each station, you will have an opportunity to talk with subject matter experts, ask questions and share ideas. While at the station, you will be asked to complete and submit a short worksheet. This is your chance to respond to the many different environmental policy directions that are being proposed.

You can also participate in facilitated discussions that will be held every hour (for about 20 minutes). Share your thoughts on a range of sustainability topics and hear the thoughts of others. Topics will change over the course of the forum.

How to Prepare

  • Preparation is recommended but not required for this event.
  • To be best prepared, please read the Executive Summary of the White Paper.

Note:  The Way We Green, White Paper is an ideas paper that has been developed based on project work to date. The paper suggests goals, objectives and policies for making Edmonton an environmentally sustainable and resilient city.
