Dave Thiele - Ward 6

Dave Thiele Biography
Through community effort, Dave Thiele demonstrates the strength of his convictions. He has served as a union member, community volunteer, and co-founder of several important community initiatives.
Prior to his election to City Council in 1998, Dave worked at the City of Edmonton in the Water System department (now EPCOR Water) for 22 years. He fulfilled roles as secretary, treasurer and trustee with his union during his time with the City.
A passion for sports and recreation led Dave to spearhead the development of the Warriors Soccer Club, where he later volunteered as coach, treasurer, and director. He also actively volunteered with the Mill Woods Soccer Association, the Ridgewood Community League, the Mill Woods Presidents Council, and the Mill Woods Cultural and Recreational Facility Association.
In addition, as a co-founder of the Committee to Save the Grey Nuns Hospital, Dave helped successfully lobby the provincial government to save this full-service facility.
In 1998, Dave received the Jim Shewchuk Award (a United Way honour) in recognition of his leadership in the community.
In his role as City Councillor, Dave continues to provide direction and support to the community.
