Commercial Mechanical Permits
Mechanical permits are mandatory when altering and installing plumbing, gas, heating and ventilation (including hydronic or hot water heating) and sewer and water servicing.
Guidelines
All permits must be obtained prior to construction.
New installations or alterations of mechanical components most often require permits, as the work must conform to the standards found in the Safety Codes Permit Bylaw.
Inspections
Each permit requires an inspection to ensure work is completed to code. Inspections are included in the cost of the mechanical permit.
It is in the best interest of the applicant to ensure that the inspection is done prior to covering any equipment as the City needs to verify the work was done correctly. An inspector has the authority to request the area be uncovered for a proper inspection to take place.
