Business Licence Plan Requirements

Anyone applying for an After Hours Dance Event or Club business licence or an Alcohol Sales [Consumption On-Premises/Minors Prohibited] business licence is required to submit four different plans to the City.

These plans give us the ability to advise you on how to best protect the health and safety of your customers and reduce your business' impact on the surrounding community.

The Public Safety Compliance Team reviews plans that require a higher level of expertise due to the scale and complexity of business operations.

Medical/Safety Plan

Your medical/safety plan should explain how you will look after the health and safety of your patrons, and how you will handle things like fire emergencies. There should also be protocols for when and how you will contact emergency services.

Noise Control Plan

Your noise control plan should explain how your business will make sure that you and your patrons do not violate the
Community Standards Bylaw noise regulations.

The complexity and length of your plan will depend on how your business operates. For example, if you do not play loud music or have patrons line up outside, your plan will not need to be as extensive as businesses that do.

Patron Management Plan

Your patron management plan should explain how you will identify, remove, and refuse entry to people that are not allowed in your business under the Business Licence Bylaw regulations.

Security Plan

Your security plan should explain how you will protect your patrons from hazards like weapons, broken glass, and other physical threats. There should also be protocols for when and how you will contact the Edmonton Police Service.

The complexity and length of your plan will depend on how your business operates and what potential hazards your patrons may face.
