Recreational Vehicle parking in the City of Edmonton is covered by the Traffic Bylaw and the Zoning Bylaw.

Reporting Your Concerns
If you have a concern about an RV parked on private property:
- Discuss your concern with the property owner
- Record the address of the violation and a description of the problem if you can't resolve it directly with the property owner
- Call 311
- Provide your name, address, phone number, and the details of your concern in case your testimony is required in court

- Discuss your concern with the property owner

Responding to Your Complaint
RVs on Private Property
After you call 311, the City takes these steps to help with your issue:
- A file is created specifying your concerns
- A Municipal Enforcement Officer (MEO) or Community Standards Peace Officer (CPO) opens an investigation
- The officer investigates your complaint within 4 business days
- The officer may issue a warning notice with directions to remedy the problem within a specified time frame or issue a bylaw ticket with a fine ranging from $50 for street parking violations and $400 for private property violations.
- The officer may issue an order, which allows the City to fix the problem and bill the property owner for the cost
- The City may contact you to appear as a witness, if the matter goes to court
RVs Parked on Public Streets
After you call the Non-Emergency Police Complaint Line, your complaint is handled by Parking Enforcement Bylaw Officers.
Protecting your Privacy
The information you provide will be used to process your complaint, but your name and address will not be made available to anyone else. For more information on how the City protects your privacy visit Freedom of Information and Privacy.
Between April 1 and October 31, an RV may be parked on the front of a residence without a back lane provided that the vehicle is parked 2 metres back from the interior edge of the sidewalk or 2 metres back from the curb if there is no sidewalk.
If you actively use your RV between November 1 and March 31, please note that your RV cannot be parked on the street for longer than 72 hours. See requirements for RV parking on the city street.
RVs can be parked only on the roadway immediately beside the owner or operator's residence and for no more than 72 consecutive hours.
After 72 hours a RV must be moved off the city street for at least 48 consecutive hours before it may be parked again on the roadway beside the owner or operator's residence.
An RV on a highway or public place cannot be occupied as a temporary dwelling.
An RV on private property cannot be occupied as a temporary dwelling.
Unattached trailers cannot be parked on city streets at any time including (but not limited to) tent trailers, travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers, boat trailers, utility trailers, campers not mounted on truck, etc.
Any vehicle parked on a city street that is equipped for sleeping is considered an RV.
An RV is any motor home, travel trailer, fifth wheel trailer, camper not mounted on a truck, or any vehicle or object that the City deems to be a large recreational vehicle.
RVs do not include boats, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, jet skis or motorcycles, small utility trailers, camper van conversions, tent trailers or campers mounted on trucks.
Fines are $50 for street parking violations and $400 for private property violations.
