Neighbourhood Meet & Green
City invites eco-friendly community to “Neighbourhood Meet & Green”
The City of Edmonton’s Laurel Green development is quickly becoming one of
Edmonton’s most popular green communities. The high aspirations of the area are matched by an equally high level of construction activity. To be proactive about existing and potential issues, the City organized a ‘Neighbourhood Meet & Green’ to create a dialogue about rules and good building practices while fostering positive community relations.
Laurel Green demonstrates the City's commitment to The Way We Green by incorporating sustainable design and environmentally-sensitive building practices. 166 lots were recently sold in this southeast neighbourhood, with more than 3,400 people registered for an opportunity to buy. This popularity combined with a unique concentration of citizen and certified home builders, all simultaneously constructing their homes, can sometimes be chaotic.
The Meet and Green information session reminds both property owners and building professionals about their obligations and responsibilities to the neighbourhood and each other, as well as cautioning them about potential costs of damages to City infrastructure.
We are confident the community will be ready to model the principles of building a friendly, considerate and safe neighbourhood, just as they have committed to the City’s vision of building a brighter and greener future.
