Sustainability

Laurel Green - Logo

All buyers and builders are required to comply with the Sustainability and Architectural Design Guidelines. These include achieving a minimum:

EnerGuide rating of 80 (Natural Resource Canada’s (NRCAN)

or obtaining certification from either

BuiltGreen Canada (Gold Level)

LEED Canada for Homes,

ENERGY STAR or

R-2000.

All homes built in this phase of Laurel Green must be constructed "Solar Ready" for future installation of photovolaic (PV) solar panels

These sustainability requirements are applied to every home built on the City-owned lots in Laurel Green.  The requirements enable the City to set a higher standard of sustainability and lead by example in working towards City Council's Vision of a more sustainable city.

We encourage all interested buyers and builders to attend the June 3, 2015 Public Information Session, Presentation and Trade Show, at the Meadows Recreation Centre (Google Map)  at 6 pm to learn about the  sustainability requirements for the City-owned lots in Laurel Green prior to registering to take part in the public lot selection.
