Blatchford is the ideal community for Edmontonians wanting to live an environmentally friendly life. Blatchford’s vision is to be carbon neutral, use 100% renewable energy, and have a reduced ecological footprint. The community is being designed and built to realize this vision.

Environmental sustainability will be achieved by using a variety of sustainable technologies. Blatchford will minimize waste produced during the construction phases, and will be built to minimize overall heat, power and water consumption in the community.

Blatchford will also use clear metrics to prove the success of each program, and will tailor sustainable education programs for builders, building operators and residents.

We recognize that we are the stewards of this land, and the City has a responsibility to manage all potential environmental risks. Detailed environmental assessments and testing are continuing on site and any environmental risks will be remediated.
