Water Play Features

Castledowns Water Play Features: Dragon

The best way to stay cool this summer is to head to one of the City’s free, drop-in water play features. There are lots of places to splash away the day, some of them in your very own neighbourhood.

Note: babies must wear water play diapers while using City water play features.

Neighbourhood Spray Decks

All sites use fresh, City water which goes straight to drainage. No recycled water is used.

There are two main version of the Neighbourhood Water Play Feature:

  • Spray Nozzles:  look like a traditional wading pool but have a spray nozzle rather than a standing pool of water. Turning on the tap creates a spray of water, which disappears down the drain. Some spray nozzles work on a timer, others require City staff to turn the water on and off. Please visit your neighbourhood playground site for more information.
  • Spray Decks (Spray Parks):  are purpose built sites with special spray features. Spray heads and perhaps even spray guns and water squirting dragons turn on automatically to help you get a good soaking. Each site is unique!

Spray Parks operate on a timer and have a sensor on site that will turn the water on and off once the sensor is activated. Operating hours for Neighbourhood Spray Deck vary. Consult your local Community League for more information.
