Victoria Park Pavilion Design - Competition Winners
Victoria Park proved to be one of the most difficult for the jury. There were many appealing submissions, but most were deemed to be over the budget and difficult to pare down.
First Prize: Rayleen Hill Architecture + Design
Jury Comments
- Elegant and straight-forward
- Will serve the park well in all four seasons
- Liked the addition of a second level observation deck
- Warm and friendly

Citation Award: gh3
Jury Comments
- Appealing graphics
- Significant landmark
- A-frame structures provide a great deal of interior volume which isn’t functional, and would have cost implications
- Unsure if incremental construction would be feasible
- Would have great appeal in winter, but unsure whether it would be as appealing in summer

Citation Award:
WilliamsonWilliamson Inc. and Donald Chong Studio
Jury Comments
- One of the most poetic of the submissions
- Very well-suited to the site
- Graphics nicely presented
- Liked the addition of a trail over the top and the skating under the extended roof
- Would likely exceed the budget in order to construct these features
